When descending from above, the view of this
minesweeper is breathtaking . Measuring almost 200 ft in length, she
is quite intact. Scuttled on June 5th of 2000, specifically for SCUBA
divers, the C-53 (or "Felipe Xicotencatl") is completely safe to
penetrate.
Even with its relatively short period of time submerged,
the wreck already serves as shelter for several species of marine
creatures including schools of glassy sweepers, grunts and A LOT of
lobsters.
